Balmain/Lagerfeld/Dolce & Gabbana/Balmain

The Holiday’s are coming, and of course we’re starting to think of what we are going to wear to that certain Holiday party this December!

Key items for a glamorous holiday look this year include: anything with sequins, the tux dress, embellished items, the little black dress, metallics, dressy coats, peep toe booties, feathered headbands, oversized earrings, and black tights. Hot colors to wear this winter include purple, red, silver, gold, and of course, black.

Velvet and lace are apparently also in style this winter, but honestly I have never been a fan of either! Why regret looking at a photo of yourself months from now, and finding yourself asking ‘Why did I wear that?’.  Also, I’m predicting that as soon as December is over, that you retire your sequined items right away until they come back in style again. After the glittery Holiday’s are over, sequins will be over as well!

When we think back to the 80’s, some of everyone’s favorite things include: Madonna, Guess Jeans, Jordache Jeans, leather & lace gloves, high top sneakers, Jem, Boy George, The Cosby Show, leg warmers, Duran Duran, big teased hair, neon coloUrs, The Breakfast Club, and some of my favorite bands, Mötley Crüe, Guns n Roses, Aerosmith, and Led Zeppelin!

Of course, now, we are welcoming a more modern version of the 80’s! LOVE IT! And what we are currently seeing is lots of glam-metallic’s, leather, metal accessories, the thigh high boot, leggings, blazer jackets, colored gloves, and bedazzled ensembles. Bring out your inner biker babe! And when I say bedazzled, I am not talking about your sparkly Ed Hardy shirt, because that trend is so over… think vixen party dresses, and sexy blinged-out accessories! Textures like rich velvets, sumptuous suedes and tweeds will lend a soft touch to hard-shell chic fashion we are seeing right now. Besides black of course, some of the statement colour’s that are your get-out-of-basic-black-jail-free cards, include crimson, pink, gold, indigo, and rust! Red is also a hot colour right now! Crimson red lips and red handbags that you can paint the town with! Pull some of your favorite personal items from your own closet to complete your personified modern 80’s look! These days, it seems anything goes!

DitasLook-1

Want the perfect Old Hollywood look? Look no further than one of my personal favorites, Dita Von Teese! Three of the most important products to complete this look are liquid liner, lashes, and red lipstick. Other products all from MAC Cosmetics to complete Dita’s look include Mineralize SPF15 Loose Powder, a satin blue-pink tone blush like Dame; for the eyes use Vapour shadow on the eyelid, and Copperplate shadow in the crease. Dita likes to use MAC’s Liquid Eye Liner on her lid. It’s your choice how thick or and how winged out you prefer your own liner, and either use no liner on the bottom or you can use a white eye khol pencil like Facinating to give the illusion of larger eyes. I would suggest a volumizing mascara like Zoomlash or Plush Lash depending on your own lashes, and then add false lashes like #21’s. Our look is almost completed, but first I do want to touch on eyebrow’s. Thick defined brows are currently a trend this fall, as they also are for the Pin Up look we are creating. Fill in your brows with a matte eyeshadow that is a shade or two darker than your own brows using an angle brush like the #208. And of course the final application is a classic red lip! Dita Von Teese’s favorite red lipstick from MAC is Russian Red. The Old Hollywood makeup effect is all about a matte lip. First, the trick is to outline your cupid’s bow in dramatic fashion like Pin Up girls and Hollywood starlets used to do. Use a similar coloured lip pencil, like Redd Lip Pencil, to achieve this. For a longer lasting lip, set your lips with your powder, blot, and reapply your lipstick for a second time. Amazing, our look is now complete! Love it and enjoy!

NAILP-1

I am the BIGGEST nail polish junkie! I am very loyal to O.P.I, it’s about quality and durability! Matte nail polish is very in this fall, but here I have listed some of the colour’s that are very current for the fall season, all in O.P.I shades of course!

Black – in Onyx
Deep Purple – in Lincoln Park After Dark
Navy – in Russian Navy
Turquoise – in Teal The Cows Come Home
Bronze – in Bronzed To Perfection
Gold – in Up Front & Personal
White – in I Love Mommy

Black is my staple nail polish. Though I’m quite the rebel when it comes to other colour’s I wear, whether it is in season or not! Personally I am also loving A-Rose At Dawn… Broke By Noon, a somewhat metallic-pearl looking pink shade! And I mean, you can’t go wrong with the classic cherry red like Quarter Of A Cent, or a neutral polish like Malaysian Mist. Alas, I love nail polish!
