There’s something about Katie Cassidy that I am drawn to. She’s gorgeous! If you don’t know who she is, she plays Ella Simms, a smart and savvy, up-and-coming publicist who strives to reach the top at any cost, on the new Melrose Place. Her eyes are so stunning, and here are some of the key products you can use to achieve her look!

First things first, flawless skin! I would suggest Armani’s Lasting Silk UV SPF 20 Foundation. It’ a beautiful high resistance makeup that’s inspired by the extreme’s of a backstage environment, and provides 14-hour satin matte coverage without the feeling of wearing makeup. Tint the cheeks with Tarte’s Natural Beauty Cheek Stain. On the lid, use shadow’s from MAC Cosmetics like Ricepaper and Vanilla, and line the top of the lid with MAC’s Penultimate Pen Liner. Line the bottom water line with MAC’s Graphblack Technakohl Liner, and smudge Silver Ring shadow underneath the liner. If you’re going to use MAC’s Zoom Fast Black Lash, you MUST use a lash primer before-hand to get the perfect intense dramatic lashes! I suggest Clinique’s Lash Building Primer. Furthermore, to complete the look, a pretty peachy-pink lip, like Yves Saint Lauren’s Tender Peach Lipstick and Pure Peach Lipgloss. Voila!

It’s World AIDS Day! The MAC AIDS Fund is one of the largest funders of HIV/AIDS organizations and programs around the world. Established in 1994 by MAC Cosmetics, the MAC AIDS Fund supports men, women and children affected by HIV/AIDS. 100% of the proceeds from MAC VIVA GLAM Lipsticks and Lipglass are donated to the Fund to support those living with and affected by HIV/AIDS. The Holiday’s are coming, and of course we’re starting to think of what we are going to wear to that certain Holiday party this December!

Key items for a glamorous holiday look this year include: anything with sequins, the tux dress, embellished items, the little black dress, metallics, dressy coats, peep toe booties, feathered headbands, oversized earrings, and black tights. Hot colors to wear this winter include purple, red, silver, gold, and of course, black.

Velvet and lace are apparently also in style this winter, but honestly I have never been a fan of either! Why regret looking at a photo of yourself months from now, and finding yourself asking ‘Why did I wear that?’.  Also, I’m predicting that as soon as December is over, that you retire your sequined items right away until they come back in style again. After the glittery Holiday’s are over, sequins will be over as well!

plastiscines

Yes Yes Yes! In addition to the girl-band’s that I can’t get enough of, I am adding the Plastiscines to that list! The Plastiscines are a fashionable female indie-pop/rock band from Saint Cry-l’École, France. They named the band from the phrase, “with plasticine porters with looking glass ties” in the Beatles’ song, “Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds”. Creative, I think that’s one reason that makes me like them even more! The members of the band include Katty Besnard (singer/guitar), Marine Neuilly (guitar), Louise Basilien (bass), and Anoushka Vandevyvere (drums). The Plastiscines are one of several Parisienne teenage bands, and can be referred to collectively as les bébés rockers. Their music has a fun feel-good rock sound, and they have elegance about them for writing good hooks. The band’s first album, LP1, was released in February of 2007, and their sophomore album, About Love, was released June 21 of this year. I am totally in love with About Love!

Lady GaGa, along with Cyndi Lauper, have both teamed up with MAC Cosmetics and have named the newest faces for the MAC AIDS Fund! I am so thrilled to hear this! The new campaign is called From Our Lips, and we are looking at the launch date being February 25th, 2010! The two new products include VIVA GLAM GaGa Lipstick and VIVA GLAM Cyndi Lipstick, and will hit MAC’s shelves on March 18th! A different approach than numbering each shade of VIVA GLAM Lipstick with a number. This is so exciting!

Viva Glam History: 100% of the selling price of a MAC VIVA GLAM Lipstick & Lipglass is donated to the MAC AIDS Fund. Established in 1994, the fund is set up to contribute to services and programs provided by organizations, and care for people infected and affected by HIV and AIDS.

Previous spokes models include: RuPaul, Liza Minelli, KD Lang, Lil’ Kim, Mary J Blige, Shirley Manson, Pamela Anderson, Missy Elliot, Dita Von Teese, Boy George, Christina Aguilera, Diana Ross, Elton John, Eve, Debby Harry, Lisa Marie Presley, & Fergie.

I’m super excited! In about a week and a half Lady GaGa is set to appear on an episode of Gossip Girl! The singer is going to perform a special redition of her new single Bad Romance on the episode, fittingly titled The Last Days Of Disco Stick. GaGa filmed her cameo in mid-October at New York Angel Orensanz, a downtown synagogue-turned-performance space. She was willing to stay on set and perform silently in the background of all the shots so that she could stay a part of the scene and incorporated into the action. GaGa’s performance of Bad Romance incorporated a few Gossip Girl-specific lyrics, but there are no plans to release the revised version, so you’re just gonna have to tune in on Monday, November 16th to catch it!

So this past Sunday I went and saw Michael Jackson’s: This Is It! And I must say, it was simply outstanding! It is just so crazy how much work went into this concert during the prep time from March to June of this year; the direction from Kenny Ortega, the dancers, the makeup artists, the band, the special effects. Amazing! As a master of his craft, Jackson knew exactly what he wanted. His process and work ethic are very hands on as he corrected minor parts of the sound, the dance, or the cue. You can tell how fragile and so thin he is, but then Michael sings, and he sounds like the Michael we know, love, and miss dearly! In the film Ortega shows us huge chunks of filmed set pieces intended for the epic concert of greatest hits that was set to open in London for fifty performances. MJ truly wanted this concert to be a gift to all his fans, and you can tell! Through the film, Jackson came through as much more than an entertainer, and more like a preacher. He used music and dance, as he always has, to continue to spread messages about love, peace, and caring for the earth. I grew up dancing to Michael Jackson in dance class, and I felt that this film was inspiring. Michael Jackson is a true entertainer, and he will remain and will always be the King of Pop. Rest in peace!
